MD Department of Agriculture
Gwen Schindler is the Director of Human Resources for the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA). She has 26 years of progressively responsible experience in MD state government personnel with a focus on improving workplace efficiency, on developing impactful new programs and on effecting positive change for an organization’s internal and external customers. Her core experience (20 years) is in the field of recruitment and selection, where she has been responsible for the development and validation of employee selection procedures and/or for management of the recruitment and selection function. For the past 6 years, she has worked as the Director of Human Resources, first for the MD Department of Natural Resources and now for MDA.
Gwen possesses a Master’s in Applied Psychology with a focus on Industrial Organizational Psychology. She is an IPMA-HR Senior Certified Professional; a graduate of the MD Equity and Inclusion Leadership Program (Schaefer Center for Public Policy at the University of Baltimore and the MD Commission on Civil Rights); and is trained to conduct Basic Medication by MACRO.
Gwen prides herself on her responsiveness, her proactive problem solving skills, her experience conducting qualitative and quantitative personnel research, and her efforts to find creative solutions to improve equity in the workplace.
